hopefully there will also be a slight speed bump & lowering of price to tide people over till september without feeling ripped off when they buy one.
My contract ends in may but i dont want to wait till september for a contract renewal.

Not a stock expert, but I do know the tech industry on the whole is suffering a bit of a slump at the moment. Redundancy cometh where I work.

I guessing you been living under a rock.. Because my Truck CD Player plays AAC, PS3, Xbox360, PSP, DSi, 3DS, my wife and daughter's Android phone all play AAC.. The list can go on... Google is your friend....
notices something. Most of those devices are a lot newer. Like I said my car from 2004 can play MP3 but not AAC files. Things from back then it was iffy at best if it it could play AAC.
Mp3 plays on everything. AAC does not. MP3 is supported on older devices. AAC is not.
AAC is just not as widely support as MP3 end of story.
Top it off Mp3 is smaller at the same bit rate

At a certain point you really are not gaining anything. Amazon VBR is a great way to give great quality sound for a smaller file size.

I am not too keen on this "cartoony" 3D effect Apple seem to be going for.
Torn off pages faux-leather binding I mean doesn't anyone else think it is a bit corny?
It really does seems as if the cutesyeness of the iOS is spreading over to OSX.
I'd prefer a clean modern OS with usability first and foremost.
Screw the gratuitous eyecandy
Remind anyone of OS/2 and their cheesy waste-of-screen-realestate spiral binder stuff?
As a theming option, sure, cool, welcome to last decade Apple. If they're going to force these silly looks randomly per app, booo! But the Mac apps looking like iOS apps is inevitable.. in a few years they will probably all be 1 in the same.

man how much would this thing cost? the 27" display is already 1000 bucks, and this would have to be at lease 42" for people to put it in their living rooms.

Yup, and that's irrelevant to the discussion. Phones that aren't granted access to that market are still counted as Android devices.
"Smartphone OS" is a totally meaningless metric. It's as useful as "laptop OS" versus "desktop OS". Yes, you can report on it, but it begs the question "why?". And the answer is (9 times out of 10) "to make us look good, even though we're losing the battle that really counts".
I'll agree with you that phones that don't include Android Market are included in total figures but the big players in Android are the likes of HTC, Motorola, LG, Samsung e.t.c who all include access to Android Market, not to mention Google's 350,000 activations a day that all have access google services and in turn include the Market.
If people can't wake up to the fact that with regards to smartphone os market share, this is the way it's always been then that is their issue. Of course total iOS penetration can be counted in a different metric and there is nothing that anyone who wants to bash Apple can say to the massive success they've had. iOS is an unrivalled juggernaut as it stands today.
Where did you pluck your "This whole "smartphone OS" is something dreamed up in the last few weeks by Android apologists" Conspiracy from anyway? You must have had some basis to make that judgememt?

Although it still isn't perfect - if you listen to music in the dark (I often listen to music in bed), it's difficult to find the buttons without pressing the wrong one. The 1G iPod was better in this regard.
The 3G buttons illuminated. Although yes, in essence, I agree - you don't want the buttons lit up all the time, and you don't want to look at it.

Ok so here's the newb question of the day!!
Have to buy Windows correct regardless of Parallels or VMware?
Yes.
As for some results, I really can't post performance results, but I can say that this competition in the virtualization market is good and we should be getting an excellent product for VMware (hopefully, if they give us a more of a workstation than a player).

Drive arrays can easily exceed 10 Gbps - today a 2 drive RAID 0 array can hit 10 Gbps.
Single drives faster than TBolt already exist - 12 Mbps SSD drive (http://www.fusionio.com/products/iodriveduo/).
TBolt devices haven't even hit the market, but TBolt is already too slow for many uses.
12Mbps? you sure you didn't mean 1.5GBs?

It is nothing.
I mean that literally.
There is no fourth product line.
This is simply a bug where the store is trying to look up a product name by key and the product doesn't exist.
Someone set the product list size one greater than it should be, causing the list to include an extra item. But since there is no device category, looking up the MarketingName for that device category fails.

What a freaking RIP-OFF.
..
No, a flat fee for unlimited rentals (music and movies) would be a good deal. I don't see Apple offering that any time soon, if EVER.
Spot on, couldn't agree more. It's a marketing gimmick, and I've always hated that "dumbed down" term "cloud storage" for the average Joe-sumer. I hate that I have to use it for some of my clients for them to "get it".

I am excited to hear that the CPUs released in January will finally be making it to a Mac in May. I totally understand the delay. It doesn't make much sense to anyone but Intel to release mid range chips months before the high end ones so Apple has little choice but to hold back the iMac lest it hurt sales of Mac Pros and MacBook Pros.
I'm not excited by the idea that the iMacs may continue to ship with 16:9 mirrors. Apple is a premium brand, the least they could do is offer true anti-reflective glass (not the fuzzy matte finish that used to adorn displays).
I'm not sure there's anything we can do about the 16:9 issue. The entire LCD industry seems determined to give us screens optimized for entertainment rather than information gathering or document production. Maybe what we really need is a display that can rotate 90 and still look good. Then I could stick a pair of 9:16's side by side.

bought the 27 inch quad i5 stock version last august just days after refresh. I loved it but due to wacky screen issue (dust or heat flaw) I got the apple store to just swap it out 3 months after I bought it. Second one had no issues and continues to perform flawlessly. I want to get a new macbookpro with thunderbolt but I think I'm going to hold off until Lion is released.

No doubt, I like nice things too and have my selection of vainness in my closet (diamond Gucci watch, LV messenger bag/wallets/etc) but when it comes to clothes, sure I'll spend $100 on a nice collared shirt or nice jeans or something, but $250 is just too far for me personally--shirts DO wear out for me after only a year or two. Sure they look good and still feel fine--until you buy a new one and have a fresh snug one to compare it to--then the old one just feels like junky crap that has lost its form over the last year or two, at least for me. Don't get me wrong, I don't buy/can't stand crappy cheap clothes, all my stuff is upper-end, but there's a personal limit where the value just isn't there for the money on short term clothes--I switch stuff out every couple years as styles/tastes change anyway.
Hey bruv, I completely get what you're saying and I no way doubt your usage/taste; its just what works for me- as you say, you may switch looks while I've looked the same for years so yeah cost/value will be as different as taste. I've been a trouser/shirt man for basically ever (wont and haven't worn jeans since a lad, leather soles and 100% natural all the way ever then) and rock the scruffy side of louche so am quite happy to be wearing 5 year linen on my back (also find it hangs better with time and that fresh paper feel is only an iron away).
Personally theres no way I'd justify spending money to make myself look different (re: flitting scenesters) but am always amazed at how different threads change your behaviour (shoes and trousers definitely on the stride/ jacket on the bearing &c.)
Hey, btw anybody after any nods I don't think you could do better to see where Prince Charles and the Duke of Windsor do their shopping (not a comment on the monarchy rather where a dandy without limit chooses to go:D)

The 17" is cheaper by the way if you opt for the 100GB drive. In the last revision you didn't get a price drop on it. Now you do. With a higher education discount I could get a beast of a machine for the price of a 15" MBP.
I wish they offered the 120GB HDD i dont need 160, but 100 is too little, 120 is just right + would save me nearly 60

It's a Hexbug. I bought it at Brookstone today.
It's a robot.

I want to get the inchworm next.
That's cool. I saw the youtube video "Hexbug madness" and I just laughed through the whole video. It makes me want to buy 10 of them and let them run loose around the office at work.
